Step 4: Decide on Supporting Information
In previous blog posts, we’ve looked at
Step 1: Develop Your Objectives
Step 2: Know Your Audience
Step 3: State the Main Ideas
Now it’s time to add credibility to your presentation!
There are numerous ways to do that, here are my top choices:
o Case Studies – linking your product to proven results
o Demonstrations – show what you mean, live or via film clips/slides
o Definitions – textbook, historical or current day usage
o Examples – from your own experience, or recognized authorities
o Findings – recent survey results, polls, research
o Graphics, Charts, Photos – images to visually communicate your message
o Quotations – that support your ideas or point of view
o Resources – offering your own research and contacts
o Stories – strong form of illustration when used for relevance
o Statistics – these add credibility to your presentation
o Testimonials of users, experts – or others in the field, respected status
o Timelines – Timescales – implementing your plan; time-saving steps
